The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) investigating the drug angle during the death of the Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput arrested another Bandra resident, Basit Parihar, on the basis of Zaid Vilatra’s interrogation late Thursday evening. The two revealed the names of house manager Samuel Miranda, Sushant Singh Rajput, and brother Showik Rhea Chakraborty, NCB sources said. NCB officials conducted searches at their homes on Friday morning and both were summoned to the NCB office in South Mumbai for investigation.
Zaid Vilatra was detained and presented in the court on Thursday and held until September 9 in Police custody. From Wednesday’s interrogation, Zaid and Basit were called for their alleged role in drug peddling. NCB officials said that they questioned Vilatra and Parihar and recovered Indian currency Rs 955,750, foreign currency US$2,081, 180 British Pounds and 15 Dirhams from Vilatra’s custody, and admitted during the investigation that they were drug peddling proceeds NCB officials added. Though NCB had reported a case in Rajput’s death, the current inquiry is the outcome of a separate case being registered by the NCB. The
NCB had registered a specific input case and arrested two people, Abbas Lakhani and Karn Arora, and confiscated their possession of curated marijuana.
through their investigation, the NCB initiate Abbas Lakhani’s ties to Bandra resident Vilatra, who told officials that he was an organization and eatery in Bandra (West) that lost business during the lockdown so he considered money through them. Vilatra has revealed that he is in touch with Basit Parihar, another resident of Bandra. NCB questioned Parihar and found he was in contact with Rhea Chakraborty, brother of Showik’s. Showik had recently been talking about drug use and procurement with Parihar.
